The aim is to train professionals capable of operating in the cinema and audiovisual industry with theoretical- practical skills appropriate to the standards required by the sector.
The three-year course in Cinema and Audiovisual includes a theoretical/practical educational path through study subjects closely linked to the disciplines involved in conceiving, creating, and disseminating audiovisual work. We move from studying the history of cinema and television to the essential elements of creative writing, directing, photography, scenography, video and audio editing, and cultural marketing. Learning the various disciplines involved in the creative process serves to consolidate not only the culture of moving images and to strengthen the technical skills and the historical and theoretical foundations necessary to tackle a project in all its phases but also to tackle topics concerning the economy, production, and marketing of audiovisual works, the realization of which requires increasingly sophisticated processes of an industrial nature. The course, therefore, includes a combination of theoretical lectures and design activities in the form of exercises. Theoretical lessons provide the cultural and analytical tools to understand the sector’s functioning. In contrast, the practical activities aim to approach and transmit the technical skills necessary to transition between “knowledge” and “know-how,” particularly in demand in the cinema and audiovisual industries. There will also be meetings and masterclasses with high-level professionals whose personal, technical, and artistic journeys will be valuable opportunities for discussion, stimulus, and motivation for course participants. The primary objective is for students to acquire the language, methodology, and basic knowledge of the “toolbox” necessary to enter a professional environment through more specialized and sophisticated subsequent study courses, in a substantial expansion that requires increasingly articulated and complex levels of preparation even for those taking their first steps in accessing the profession.
At the end of the three years, the student will have the basic skills to face professional activities in film direction, screenplay, photography direction, editing, production management, scenography, assistant director, and film criticism.
